Vogue Is Vogue

In the great tradition of Paris is Burning, the epic documentary that followed the “ballroom” scene in New York in the 80’s, and framed with the 2017 edition of Montreal/Canada Pride comes the mainstream return of Voguing in Montreal.

000068-19848-16577_kiki_still3_na__bynaitigmez_-_h_2016The gang at Tourisme Montreal teamed up with Fierté Montréal/Canada Pride and Gerard X Reyes to bring Chi Chi Mizrahi and Twiggy Pucci Garçon, two legends of the “ballroom” scene, to Montreal for a series of film screenings, conferences and workshops. On August 13th head to Bain Mathieu and learn what it takes to vogue like your life depends on it and strut your stuff for a judges panel (featuring Twiggy and Chi Chi). The IN DEEP Kiki Vogue Ball is guaranteed to be up there with a plethora of other not-to-be-missed events this weekend!

From August 12th to the 15th catch these modern LGBT icons at various venues around the city as they screen their lauded film, KIKI (image above) and discuss everything from Voguing’s influence on culture, past and present, to the struggles the LGBT community faces in the modern world and how this community bands together to help save lives in cities and neighbours where people of all creeds and colour may feel ostracized. Voguing and showing off their unrelenting talent lets these wonderful people shine as they were meant to, all in front of a crowd cheering them on.
