The W Hotel in Old Montreal is no stranger to the hottest parties in town, which is why it makes sense that they had one of the most talked about parties of this year’s Grand Prix. Attended by VIP guests, local celebrities and high-profile media, the Pit Stop Party was the place to see and be seen. The W Hotels first ever Pit Stop Party was a super-sized 5à7 that blended fashion, live music, delicious cocktails and a white hot guest list that turned the Plateau lounge into a jet-set paradise. We enjoyed delicious cocktails by Ungava gin and Belvedere vodka while canapés by the W were circled around the room to keep us from getting too spirited away.
An hour into the event, local fashion designer, Nicolas Bilodeau transformed part of the lounge into a fashion runway, presenting the crowd with 2 new collections. His womenswear collection, NICO draws glamorous inspiration from styles of Givenchy while his collection, Wizemen, a futuristic, street-inspired menswear collaboration with Jason Noël rolled out to massive applause.
Continuing the party, Calgary natives, The Fast Romantics gave a bombastic live performance that lasted almost a full hour as well. Having performed at massive festivals like SXSW, NXNE and Virgin Fest, their popularity is on the rise throughout North America. Their neo-punk rock sound has been compared to that of Blur and Elvis Costello and provided the perfect soundtrack for the W’s first Grand Prix Pit Stop spectacle.
Of course this party wouldn’t have been possible without an array of colourful cars parked outside the hotel. A beautiful white Mercedes (that sadly wasn’t included in the swag) represented one of the Pit Stop Party’s main sponsors, Mercedes Silver Star while several brightly coloured Lamborghini sports cars were stationed along the strip.
The W Hotel with its elegant Plateau Lounge and dance-inducing Wunderbar continues to be one of the hottest venues in Montreal for both Montrealers and visitors alike. After their first fantastic Pit Stop Party, their reputation for being a must-see hotspot in Montreal remains solid.
