This past October, Ikanos, the latest restaurant from mastermind, Constant Mentzas (former owner of Tasso Bar à Mezze) invited guests to come explore Montreal’s newest place to enjoy fine Greek cuisine. The event featured some of the fresh and delicious food that anchors their extensive menu, copious amounts of wine and cocktails and of course plenty of mingling with guests and staff.
Perfectly located at 112 McGill in Old Montreal, the new restaurant reveals a stunning décor and will serve up fine Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere.
I can’t stipulate enough how impressive the restaurant looks. Designed by BlazysGérard, the lighting is magnificent with large windows in the front and back of the restaurant. Gentle tones of white, blue and sand colour set a relaxed mood in the comfortable yet modern space. The bar with beautiful hanging light fixtures is impressive and stands out as one of the most interesting places to have a drink in the city.
Complimenting the convivial atmosphere at Ikanos, the tapas style (mezzes) servings are meant to be shared. Though there is something for everyone, the menu is headlined by delectable seafood dishes and features everything from oysters, to grilled octopus and fish and much more.
During the event we were invited downstairs and into the kitchen to see where all the magic happens. Ikanos boasts a large, beautiful kitchen and features one of North America’s first Josper Charcoal Ovens. The oven is essentially an indoor barbeque that lends a unique flavour to slow cooked food over firewood.
