While football fans from around the globe gather to watch the biggest sporting event of the year, the rest of us watch the Super Bowl for the halftime shows and the commercials. Here’s a rundown of this year’s most amazing TV and movie trailers featured during this year’s Super Bowl!
Stranger Things 2
Easily one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, Stranger Things 2 debuts this coming Halloween. From the trailer we can see that there’s still more to explore in the Upside Down and lets all still hope there’s a chance we will see Barb again.
Pirates of the Caribbean 5
Do we need another Pirates of the Caribbean movie (from what I hear, Johnny Depp does) is the question we must ask ourselves. Captain Jack Sparrow back for another adventure, this time covered in mud. The dead have taken over the sea and for some reason Captain Jack is being pursued. The movie opens on May 26th.
Ghost in the Shell

Scarlett Johansson kicks and shoots her way back onto the big screen in the live action adaption of the popular Japanese manga, Ghost in the Shell. The trailer is crazy and her role as The Major may have been met with controversy but I think she will knock it out of the park. The movie hits theatres on March 31st.
Guardians of the Gallaxy, Vol 2
In the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is made up of the most irreverent group of characters we have seen. The follow up to Vol 1 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year and if the trailer shows us anything its that we’re in for another wild ride. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 opens on May 5th.
Transformers: The Last Knight
Transformers movies are pure eye candy and for fans of the franchise (like myself) and this instalment looks like its going to be as batshit crazy as the first 4. Canon means nothing to Michael Bay. When you go see a Transformers movie you don’t go for the clever plot points. You go for the eye popping visuals and the cars that transform into robots. That’s enough for me. Now that my secret is out, you can find me there on opening night on June 23rd.
Life
Never grow your own alien on the International Space Station. That should be the first thing we learn when we find DNA in space. Will astronauts ever learn? That being said, this movie looks like an amazingly realistic and terrifying version of Alien. Where is Sigourney Weaver when you need her? Life opens on March 21st and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and more.
