A Valentine’s Day For Lovers (of Montreal)

Whether you love it, hate it or think it is purely an invention of consumerism, Valentine’s Day is hard to ignore. So why not embrace this wonderful day of love by getting together with your friends, enjoying a little time by yourself or hanging out with your better half. Here are a few recommendations that may help you and all the lovers plan a perfect Valentine’s Day no matter how you spend it.

Treat Yourself

For Valentine’s Day Bota Bota (the floating spa in Old Montreal) suggests a stopping by their facilities for a couple of hours of pampering and relaxation. From February 14th to the 17th they’ve put together something a little special for Valentines Day (you can read more about that right here) and that combined with a new Saint-Laurent inspired cold bath, it’s not something you want to miss. Enjoy the water circuits, a relaxing massage, maybe the special 3-course meal and take as much time as you need to let the stress of the week melt away.

Brunch

Old Montreal is filled with great brunch suggestions. I recommend the brunch at Brasserie 701, Olive & Gourmando and Ikanos (to name a few) for a variety of tastes and appetites.

Do Something Different

Whether you’re a couple with no kids or you’re house is crawling with children, it’s always nice to get away for a night. A staycation is a relatively cheap way to shake up the ordinary and a hotel like the wonderful W Montreal, the recently rejuvenated Fairmont Reine Elizabeth or one of your own personal favourites.

Dinner and Drinks

There’s absolutely no shortage of restaurants catering to lovers on Valentines Day. Pick your favourites from our extensive list of restaurants here and treat yourself to a great glass of wine with a delightful meal. I highly recommend trying LIV from Fibo Resto Lounge in Old Montreal. From February 9-10, 14-16 and 17, your senses will be on overload as you are taunted and tingled through an evening of culinary magic. Learn about LIV here (in French only).

A night out on the town does a couple good!
