New City Gas

Last week, New City Gas officially opened their terraces for the summer season. We were on the scene to try out their new summer cocktails and get all the details on one of the hottest spots in Montreal this summer.

For the hippest and trendiest of our city dwellers, Thursday nights have forever been the best night  out on the town. While there is no shortage of hotspots in our lovely city, New City Gas, which is located in the increasingly popular Griffintown, has put it’s hat in the ring as the place to be on Thursday evenings this summer. Pulling out all the stops, this dynamic event space exists in a remarkably refurbished (with mind-blowing lighting and sound) building which dates back to 1859.

With a sprawling front gazon covered terrace, decorated in the brightest Veuve Clicquot of yellows (with beautiful lounge furniture to keep us all comfortable) and a partially covered, brick wall enclosed back terrace and bar, there’s nothing stopping Montrealers from getting out and blowing off a little steam. Walking across the threshold into New City Gas feels like you’re entering a hidden paradise featuring one of the best views of Montreal’s beautiful skyline that has to be seen.

All summer long, New City Gas will be serving up custom concocted cocktails, invented by none other than Lawrence Picard of Nectar Consulting and Bar Design.  The sangria inspired La Vie en Rose was potently delicious as was Lavender Loves Litchi and there’s more where they came from. I’ve popped up a full list of the cocktails here for your pleasure! New City Gas also features a full bar which is well stocked with wine, bubbly and beer and because it’s only 5à7 in name, the doors will open from 4pm to 11pm each Thursday so we call all take advantage of everything the night has to offer.

That’s a much more realistic, Montreal way of having fun.
