Oysterfest 6

Over the last 5 years Oysterfest has grown from an afternoon of oyster shucking and drinking in a cramped parking lot to one of the most hotly anticipated events of the summer. Bigger than that, Oysterfest has become the closing ceremony of summer in Montreal. Read on for details on this year’s big party!

10577203_4453164582491_6131306812047693831_nOysterfest 6 gathers oyster enthusiasts, foodies, shuckers and cocktail lovers from across the country to rock out all weekend long. This year promises more oyster fun than ever before with bigger shucking competitions and a tastier Motts Clamato Caesar competition. Restaurants from around the city will be onsite to offer a little taste of what they serve everyday.

Proceeds from this year’s Oysterfest will once again be donated to the Open Pier foundation, an organization devoted to protecting the world’s precious waterways and aquatic life for future generations. The team behind Oysterfest is now Guinness world record holders for the most oysters shucked in an hour. If you’re going to be shucking around that weekend, bring you’re A-game down to Oysterfest for a good cause.

Last year’s weekend long party was the biggest they have ever put together and this year is expected to be even bigger. The two-day festival (September 6th and 7th) feels a lot like a very modern garden party with white tents offering food and drink while must blasts from the surrounding speakers. The sun warmed waters and grounds of les Terrasses Bonsecours is the perfect setting for the event. A weekend of guzzling good drinks and eating great food with Montreal’s finest is the best possible way to say farewell to a fantastic summer.
