Earlier this month, Bar Anabel, a quaint French bistro on Bernard in Outremont celebrated its first year in business. Coinciding with the anniversary, the restaurant launched a new spring-summer menu and invited some VIP guests and hi-profile media to sample the food and of course, pop open some bubbly to celebrate.
DJ YO-C set the soundtrack for the evening as people gathered inside the restaurant and chatted while guests sipping on prosseco, nibbled on canapés featuring items from the new menu and chatted it up over claps of thunder and lighten outside.
There was standing room only as the food was served and the drinks were poured. The service was friendly (outside a normal restaurant setting, service is hard to judge, but the bartender could have cracked a smile once or twice) as they weaved through the crowd with their trays of food.
Bar Anabel features Philippines inspired creations by executive chef Jose Mariano Crespo, a select list of imported wines, cocktails and more. With only 43 seats available in the cozy space, Bar Anabel has been very busy in its first year and they hope to continue that success in the future.
