Inside The Nightlife 10.23

With hockey season finally back and the art season’s fall programs ramping up, it’s going to be a busy autumn in Montreal (if we survive all the scares Halloween has in store for us). Here’s what we saw last week in Montreal!

Tapis Bleu For The Habs Home Opener

slide_375728_4397196_compressedLocal celebrities, artists, athletes and more gathered on the blue carpet late last week to celebrate the return of the regular hockey season and the home opening game of the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. Clearly we are all very happy to have the Habs back in uniform and fighting once again for the Stanley Cup. The avenue des Candiens de Montreal was decked out in a lush blue carpet as Quebec’s celebrities arrived en masse. We are true hockey fans here in Montreal and we are now ready to encourage our team! Go Habs Go!

Malefycia

unspecified-1Malefycia is scary. Even the posters for the second annual event are scary. It’s perfect for small children and those who too scared to sleep with the lights off after seeing an episode of The Walking Dead. Although I haven’t been yet (I’ve chickened out of the media launch two years in a row – and I will do it again) those who love a good scare are almost guaranteed to jump out of their skin as they saunter through the maze of evil. Running October 22-23rd and October 29t-30th in the Peel Basin. A horror market is also running from October 20-31st where you can pick up a variety of horror related merchandise. Since 2014 the Cercle des Printemps du MAC gets young professionals and philanthropists involved in promoting contemporary art. We sipped on wine and Caesars while slurping down oysters and charcuterie from Bevo. The 2016/17 season was unveiled and activities will include organized visits of private collections, meet and greets with artists, family days and of course the unforgettable Printemps du MAC soirée.
