Last week Le Renoir, the fabulous house restaurant at the swanky Sofitel Hotel on Sherbrooke, unveiled a refurbished and delightfully refreshing courtyard terrasse to a select group of Montreal’s media and VIP guests.
Though the terrasse covers a lot of ground, the best part is tucked away in an enchanting little sunny corner and guarded from the elements by the surrounding goliath buildings. The air on the terrasse is fresh and infused with the savoury scents of home grown herbs. The terrasse is truly unique with these herb gardens at the centre of the seating area. Strings of little white lights dot the uncovered space at night creating a cozy atmosphere.
We enjoyed refreshing rosé, freshly barbecued canapés and charcuterie all evening and stayed well past sunset. The staff enjoyed themselves as much as us as they competed in fun foosball games and entertained us all evening.
Finding a haven like this, downtown, isn’t always easy but getting away from the bustle and the traffic isn’t that difficult after all and with Renoir’s terrasse I have found one of my new favorite places in the city.
