West Elm Montreal

Next to book shopping, furniture and home décor shopping is one of my favorite ways to spend a few hours of the weekend. I can easily take half a day to search through a store to find that perfect chair, a new candle or even just dream about redoing my whole home from top to bottom. One of my favorite stores in Montreal is West Elm. They opened in the Griffintown’s Peel Basin years before condo towers were built and other stores set up shop. West Elm is now rooted in the DNA of the area, setting a standard for everything else that comes along.

After another lengthy winter there’s nothing better than walking into a store like West Elm to see deck chairs, outdoor dining ware and lanterns filling up the space. Every year the Brooklyn based furniture giant partners with artists and artisans to create unique household items and this summer they teamed with photographer Kate McKenna to bring us a collection of gorgeously printed outdoor cushion covers that feature her photography. Flora print is a trend that we’ve been riding for a few years now but Kate’s deeply colourful photography mixed with high quality silks takes décor and raises it to a whole other level. Paired with items such as the whimsical lantern featured below, you can turn your balcony, your patio or your living room into a tropical paradise.
