Downtown Style

Montreal’s men’s fashion scene got a much needed shot in the arm last week when Frank & Oak opened their latest flagship store on Stanley Street, just up from St-Catherine. The retail giant may have gotten their start online but with the massive success they’ve had, online was clearly just the beginning.

_W7A1389Founded in Montreal in 2012, Frank & Oak is changing the way we buy clothes. No longer do we just pop into a store, pick out a shirt, buy it and leave. A clothing company, much like any other retailer has to engage their clients and offer them something more. Leading the way through a challenging time in the retail sector, Frank & Oak doesn’t just want the current transaction, they want to learn more about their clients. A company’s clientele is their richest asset and helping each person on a more personal level means creating a relationship with them and having them return again. Whether you’re selling clothing, books or furniture, a retailers goal should be to create an emotional connection with their clients. Frank & Oak have been doing this online since the beginning and continuing the practice in their stores make good business sense.

Beyond the racks and tables of neatly folded shirts and sweaters there’s a cafe, a full service barber shop and the top level of the store features a bar and event space available to local businesses for events and forums. Designed in collaboration with Frank & Oak’s in-house team and KANVA, a Montreal design firm, the store is warm and masculine with sleek design elements and beautiful wooden furniture dotted throughout the store. If the store’s essence could be bottled it would taste like a fine, smokey scotch. The store will feature Frank & Oak’s monthly menswear items, limited collections and will host a variety of community-oriented events.

From its online and mobile operations to a healthy network of stores throughout the country, Frank & Oak is proof that unbridled success in 2015 comes with game-changing innovation.
