Santa Claus

Every year just as the last of the Hallowe’en candy is handed out and the Jack-O-Lantern’s lights are snuffed, Christmas takes hold throughout the retail sector across the city (and the world). As the month of November continues its push from the sunny days of fall through the gates of early winter twilight, the bright light of the sun is replaced by the colored lights and decorations that brighten our way towards the holiday season.

santa1Though these precursors to the Christmas season help ramp up our holiday spirit, it isn’t until the last weeks of November do we really get a spirited boost from an event that reminds us all that we are still kids at heart; the annual Downtown Santa Claus parade.

This November 23rd Montreal celebrates its 63rd annual crowd-pleasing parade with a bigger-than-ever variety of vibrant floats, marching bands and colorful characters that excite the Christmas spirit in us all. As kids of all ages come out this Saturday for an enchanting late morning and early afternoon of colourful fun, we will be joined by this year’s reigning parade princess and skating champion, Joannie Rochette, cast members from Decembre, an annual holiday production featured at Place des arts and many more invited guest leading up to the man of the hour himself, Santa Claus.

The Santa Claus Parade promises to be a great way to spend part of the weekend. For kids of all ages it’s a fantastic launch into the most wonderful time of the year!
